Chowaniec Projects x Climate Week NYC + Evelyn Frances

How to Find Sanctuary in a Local, Accessible Experience of Nature or Stardust Travel Agency

Sign up for your one-on-one session here.

Chowaniec Projects presents Stardust Travel Agency, a one-on-one performance rooted in visualizing climate action through art.

The piece guides each individual participant through the process of finding their own connection to nature and local trip planning via relevant, free resources. A takeaway journal with an extended guide accompanies. We will spend about 5 minutes with each participant, over a 2-hour period, operating with a combination of advanced sign up and walk-in appointments.

Evelyn Frances will be performing a set of nature-inspired songs from her upcoming, debut album, entitled Seed.

Climate Week NYC is the largest climate action week in the world, where business and government leaders come together to turn pledges into action in order to keep warming well below 2 degrees Celsius.

"We are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth...We are not figuratively, but literally stardust"  --Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson

STARDUST is a cross-platform, interactive installation with public programming extensions, visualizing climate action through art. The power is in the visualization. We need to see ourselves in the climate change discussion; we are all stakeholders. We are committed to creating and mapping spaces for reflection and care, as a means to empower visitors.

STARDUST is not a one-time experience but a site to initiate a practice.

CP Skillshare at Wall Space Train Yards

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”                     - Audre Lorde

STARDUST aims to create a sanctuary, not just a physical space and not only a one-time experience but a foundation site to initiate a practice. We need a network of resources and practical solutions to build that practice.  We'll be hosting a skillshare on September 14, 2017.

Skillshares bring people together in a roundtable to share individual skills with each other without asking for anything in return.  Contributions are encouraged, and everyone is welcome.  In the context of STARDUST we want to build a community of people, show the varied angles of self-care and how pieces might fit into our routines, and show how to find, and keep sanctuary active in our day to day lives.
